Race in College Admissions

Today we'll discuss the Scalia articles and then read the summary of the decision in the Fisher case in your packets.
For Monday, you will write a formal argument in response to this question:
Should universities use race as a factor in their admissions decisions? Why or why not?
This is your final piece of formal writing for the year, so make it your best.  Make sure that your assertion is clear and that it is supported by specific evidence. Evidence should come from the materials provided in class. Your paper should begin with an introductory paragraph that closes with your thesis that is an answer the question posed above.  Your body paragraphs should start with topic sentences that make assertions tied to your thesis. Each assertion should be supported by specific evidence from the materials given in class. Your paper should finish with a concluding paragraph.
Papers should be 3-5 pages long, double spaced, using Times New Roman, 12 pt font. They are due to be submitted to turnitin.com on Monday, April 24th.
